Emy

I took Emy out to test out my new birthday lens yesterday evening. We were just in time for that beautiful golden light. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get this kid to smile, but in the end we managed a few that Mom really likes. Some (like the second and fourth picture) that show off a bit of her quirkiness.

Fun with Dick and Jane

Today I got to visit with one of my favorite people from school and finally meet her fiancée. We met in Ellensburg and wandered around catching up. It was fun! Probably more for my friend and me than it was for her fiancée, but he was a great sport.

While we were wandering around the unfamiliar town, we were drawn to this interesting house. Apparently the artists that live there have been working on it for 27 years. There are over 10,000 bottle caps, thousands of reflectors, and tons of so-weird-its-fascinating art. It was what we termed to be, “out of control.”

as was this mural...

Rain Happens

Today was a beautiful day! Nice and rainy. I love it! Also today, my lens came in the mail! A Nikon 50mm 1:1.8D. My mom is trying to convince me that she should wrap it up for my birthday. But you see, I can't wait until next Tuesday...I need it for tomorrow! I need to test it out. I think I have her persuaded now to just wrap up the box. This is good.

This past week I watched some kids I use to nanny for while their parents were out of town. We went on a big bike ride, played Clue for way too many hours, and even visited the zoo. It was fun. I like having license to act crazy when you are around kids... but who am I kidding. I am after all, guilty of playing pirates with my 16 year old sister in our pool just last week.

Little Miss Goldielocks

My good friend Melanie is leaving this next week for the MTC and then Japan. So we decided that she needed some parting shots. Last year I took some fun pictures of her playing in the rain...

So I was quite aware of her superb modeling abilities. Here are a few of the pictures from this time around.

Oh yum!

Yesterday morning I got up early and picked blackberries. I guess I was just having too much fun, because before I knew it my arm was getting tired from the weight of my pickings. I came home with hundreds of blackberries and big plans. I originally just planned on freezing some to put in my cereal, but considering the quantity I ended up with, new plans began to form. Last night I made chocolate blackberry cheesecake and I did not even dent the massive amount of berries. More berries must be baked in something. I also borrowed a Nikon 50mm 1:1.4 D lens from a friend and played around with my delicious subject matter. I am in love with this lens and might just need it for my birthday...check out that controlled focus!

For Mom

Wow, it has been a long time since I have posted anything on here. Actually all of my old posts got deleted so this looks like my first. How exciting!

The other day I decided it was time to take some pictures. I wanted to test out my lens and determine if it really was as bad of a lens as I thought. The votes are in... and it's time for an upgrade. The thing has major trouble focusing where I want it to, and the color quality is not up to par. But Anywho, Anna was bribed into being my model via 99 cent ice-cream at McDonald's and so we went for some photos that were sure to please Mom.

P.S. I am loving this: www.atncentral.com. I will have to post some pictures soon using a few of the actions I downloaded. I am particularly excited about the Lomo one. I love learning how to imitate different cameras in Photoshop.
